Delighted to be having Nicola Jenkin here at the farm again. 'The Essence of Place' Saturday 7th December & Sunday 8th December Saturday: 9.30am to 4.30pm; Sunday 9am to 3pm includes: almost all art materials; 2 delightful lunches, a venue of many trees and a babbling river and all refreshments. where: Blaauwklippen river, de Trafford Winery SUITABLE FOR ALL LEVELS OF ARTISTS: beginner to experienced An almost 2-day art workshop amidst indigenous trees, with breathtaking mountain views and the tranquil Blaauwklippen River at de Trafford Wines, Stellenbosch. This workshop offers a series of guided art techniques inspired by masters such as Kentridge, Van Gogh, Piper and Matisse. You will engage in drawing and painting exercises designed to help interpret the sensory experience of the surroundings — sounds, sights, geography, light, smells, shapes, water, animals and plants — focusing on capturing the 'genius loci' or essence of place. Led by artist Nicola Jenkin, the workshop emphasizes a mindful approach to creating art that reflects your personal interpretation of the landscape around you. Over the course of the workshop you'll create small works of art, culminating in a final piece that encapsulates your artistic journey and connection to this beautiful setting. Due to the nature of the workshop, space is limited to a maximum of 6 participants. R3,300 per participant (Includes almost all art materials, coffee/teas and lunch) on Saturday we will meet at 9:30am, settle and start workshop at 10:00am. Saturday will finish at 4:30pm. On Sunday we will start at 9:00am and finish at 12pm with lunch under THE oak tree. What to bring: - comfy shoes and clothes to draw and paint in - sunhat and sunscreen - water bottle for staying hydrated - notebook and pencil - lightweight camping chair or small ground cover to sit on - small basket or cloth bag for collecting You will be contacted via Whatsapp the week prior to workshop with a reminder or two. Cancelation policy: a refund minus a 10% cancellation fee will be issued if cancelled on or before 8th of November. No refunds will be given with a cancelation made on or after 8th of November 2025
