Service Description

To Dye For is an ONLINE workshop Saturday 1st April 2023 10am to 1pm (includes a 30min break) Dyeing Wool with Colours from Nature. Learn about naturally dyeing wool with local botanicals in your neighbourhood. It includes everything except the water and the electricity.* You will receive a kit including 4 x 20g (plus 2 x 10g) skeins of mordanted 100% locally produced wool**, notes & recipes, foraged botanicals. This workshop also includes postage (Postnet to Postnet) & a 3 hour Zoom class. We will talk about mordants, modifiers, great botanical dyes and poopy disappointing natural dyes to avoid. This workshop delivers clear concise information for long lasting successful results in your natural dye journey. A bit of easy pre-preparation homework is required of you. It will be a day of lovely wooliness. Venue: your place Cost: R950 per kit and workshop The Dye Kits will be sent out on Monday 26th March. Please let me know your closest, most convenient Postnet branch. Bookings close Wednesday 22nd March. What you will be needing: water, a large ish bowl, a microwave OR if using a stovetop - then a small stainless steel pot (that will be a dedicated dye pot). *The workshop will go ahead regardless of the load shedding crisis that we are experiencing at the moment. If on the day you do not have access to electricity for the dye process you will obviously only dye later in the day. The notes are concise and thorough and the workshop will be recorded so no need to panic should you have no electricity for dyeing or Zooming on Saturday 1st April between 10am and 1pm. ** a double knit thickness yarn. 187m/100g. 100% wool. If you would like to add the following to your parcel please indicate via the message option. I will send you a separate invoice for any of these extras: -R170 per ready-to-dye 100g skein (already mordanted with Alum). -R120 per non-mordanted skein. -R195 for 5 x 20g ready-to-dye skeins (already mordanted with Alum). -R95 per mordant/modifier kit consisting of: 100g alum; 50g ferrous sulphate and 50g soda ash -R230 per pair of mohair wool mix of ready to dye socks: Small sizes 3 to 5; Medium sizes 5 to 7 PLEASE NOTE: A lot of preparation goes into these wonderful kits so I cannot offer a refund.
