Eco-printing involves fresh, dried, whole & complete, wind damaged, nibbled, broken fallen leaves being placed on layers of fabric - rolled and bound tightly before heating to extract the botanical images permanently. A mindful process experiencing each season of nature as she gifts us botanical treasures and discoveries. You will create your very own botanically printed/eco-printed hemp-linen table cloth OR a decorative piece for your bed. We will be gathering tannin rich leaves and placing them on a generous size piece of 150 x 250cm hemp-linen. The workshop will entail a full understanding of eco-printing on hemp-linen. It is a hands-on course where we delve into this wonderful medium of capturing nature between layers of thick linen. A wonderful mordant recipe will be yours which will create clear crisp prints. Due to the size of what will be wonderful creations space is limited to a maximum of 6 participants. R2850 per participant Please note that you will not be able to bleach or treat your completed creations with any harsh soaps from any food stains. You'll have to embrace the stubborn stain by leaving as is, embracing by a few embroidery stiches or simply re-printing. This will be discussed. All eco-printed creations have to be washed gently in cold water with a mild soap and avoid a lengthy time in the sunlight. We will gather 9am at de Trafford Manor House, a 100m up from de Trafford Winery. A not so brief chat will be followed by some foraging, collecting and then the rest of the day we will be creating.
